A Harrow accountancy firm's 6.93-mile walk across nine London bridges has raised £15,474.12, plus £2,866.87 in Gift Aid, for St Luke's Hospice.

More than 40 staff from a Harrow accountancy practice walked 6.93 miles across nine London bridges in July for the borough’s hospice. Their fundraising page has now passed £18,300 once Gift Aid is counted, against a £15,000 target.

The firm is RDP Newmans LLP. The walk was the Nine Bridges Challenge, held on 8 July 2026, and the charity is St Luke’s Hospice (Harrow and Brent).

The page had 215 donations behind it when we checked. Gift Aid, which the charity claims back on donations from UK taxpayers, adds almost a fifth again.

Why this firm, and this hospice

The walk was organised by Lyndon Perez, a partner at the practice. St Luke’s cared for his wife Sarah before she died in 2025.

“St Luke’s supported Sarah and myself extremely well,” he said in the firm’s own announcement. “My family and I are endlessly grateful for the love, care, and support we have received from St Luke’s. Their kindness has been a lifeline.” (RDP Newmans).

The firm made the walk its summer event rather than a social, and more than half the staff signed up. It is not the first time. In 2011 employees walked over hot coals for the same charity.

St Luke’s published its own account of the challenge in June (St Luke’s Hospice). Jo Pearce, then interim chief executive, said: “Every donation raised will help St Luke’s continue providing compassionate care and support across Harrow and Brent.” She was confirmed as chief executive on 4 August, after seven years at the hospice and eight months in the interim role (appointment notice).

What it means for you

St Luke’s is the local hospice for Harrow and Brent, and it charges nothing for any of its services. It is a registered charity, number 298555, and the Charity Commission records its income as £12,984,000 with accounts filed on time (register entry). A hospice of that size still runs on money raised locally. This one office walk brought in £18,340.99 of it.

Two practical points if you want to help:

  • The Nine Bridges page is still open for donations, and ticking the Gift Aid box adds 25p to every pound if you pay UK tax.
  • If you donate goods to a St Luke’s charity shop, take them inside during opening hours. The hospice said in August that bags left on the pavement stop being donations and become rubbish it has to pay to clear (St Luke’s). Leaving them there is also fly-tipping, and Harrow issues more fines per reported fly-tip than any other London borough: we set out how the council’s litter and waste fines work.
